Dr.Curtiss provides the highest quality dental care with special attention to patient's experience
Dr. Curtiss is a 1975 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and has studied extensively at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, completing all six continuums. He is a charter member of the East Tennessee Pankey Study Club and has been an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 2004. Dr. Curtiss has completed the LSU School of Dentistry Comprehensive Continuum on Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry and has received training in oral conscious sedation from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Dr. Curtiss also has extensive training in the areas of treatment planning and the restoration of dental implants.
Dr. Curtiss is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a member of the Southeast Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and a Past-President of the Second District Dental Society.
A native of Memphis, Jim and his wife, Susan, settled in Blount County in 1975 when Jim was the public heath dentist at the Blount County Health Department. They promptly fell in love with the community and “put down roots” when Dr. Curtiss opened his general dental practice in 1977. Jim and Susan, who met at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville during their undergraduate days, have been married for over 50 years and have two grown children and five grandchildren.

Dr. Brown comes to East Tennessee from Northern Virginia, where she practiced as an owner provider for 25 years. A native of Loudoun County and Virginia, she joined her father’s family practice in 1998 and worked with patients from all generations.
Dr. Brown graduated from the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998 and completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University. She has extensive training in pediatric, orthodontic and cosmetic restorative procedures. Dr. Brown regularly attends the Spear Education center in Scottsdale, Arizona as part of her commitment to continued higher education and excellence in patient care. She is a member of the American Orthodontic Society, the American Dental Association and the Tennessee Dental Association. Currently, she is a clinical instructor at Lincoln Memorial University School of Dental Medicine in Knoxville. Teaching the dental students is a true joy for Dr. Brown!
Dr. Brown and her husband David of many years have 2 grown sons. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, extensive gardening, hiking and snow skiing. A “love of food and cultures” is a true passion and Dr. Brown has attended cooking school in various locations in US and abroad.
