Since 1977 our goal has been to provide the highest quality dental care possible while paying special attention to our patient’s experience in our office. Our staff continually invests in continuing education, focusing on cosmetic dentistry and complex restorative cases including the replacement of teeth with dental implants. Dr. Curtiss is a 1975 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and has studied extensively at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, completing all six continuums. He is a charter member of the East Tennessee Pankey Study Club and has been an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 2004. Dr. Curtiss has completed the LSU School of Dentistry Comprehensive Continuum on Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry and has received training in oral conscious sedation from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Dr. Curtiss also has extensive training in the areas of treatment planning and the restoration of dental implants.
Dr. Curtiss is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a member of the Southeast Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and a Past-President of the Second District Dental Society.
A native of Memphis, Jim and his wife, Susan, settled in Blount County in 1975 when Jim was the public heath dentist at the Blount County Health Department. They promptly fell in love with the community and “put down roots” when Dr. Curtiss opened his general dental practice in 1977. Jim and Susan, who met at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville during their undergraduate days, have been married for over 42 years and have two grown children and four grandchildren.

Patsy has enjoyed being part of the Curtiss Dentistry team for the past 19 years.
Patsy is a true “people person” and enjoys developing a personal relationship with all of our patients. She spends her day assisting our patients in scheduling their appointments and helping them with their insurance and financial questions.
She and her husband Dwayne enjoy the outdoors, and riding their motorcycles. In her leisure time, Patsy likes cooking and spending time with her special nephew, Chase.
Debbie has been in dentistry for 29 years, and has worked with Dr. Curtiss for 26 years. She enjoys her patients and feels rewarded when she can help them feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental visits.
Debbie and her husband Tom live in Maryville and have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Both Tom & Debbie enjoy riding their motorcycle. In her free time, Debbie loves to bake, quilt and embroidery.
Beth was born and raised here in Maryville. She has been in dentistry for 22 years, 21 of those years have been spent with Dr. Curtiss. She loves her patients, especially the elderly, she enjoys making them happy and seeing them smile.
Beth enjoys camping, going to the beach, working out at the gym, attending Tennessee football games (Go Vols), and most importantly spending time with family and friends. Beth and her husband live in Maryville, they have one son and two dogs.
Crystal was born and raised in Tennessee and has been with Dr. Curtiss for 11 years.
She enjoys and is rewarded by making her patients feel better and look beautiful/handsome. In her spare time she loves being outdoors, sports, car shows and spending time with her friends and family.
Sheila, a hygienist, has been with Dr. Curtiss since 2000. She loves helping patients and establishing long term relationships with them.
When she is not working she loves spending time with her husband and son. She is an avid reader and enjoys running.
